At a glance
Malaysia is somewhat eclipsed by its more touristy neighbours like Thailand, Indonesia or Vietnam. And indeed the tourism sector is not as developed as in other countries in South East Asia. But Malaysia really has a lot to offer to all types of travellers.
From the dizying heights of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline, to the cool temperatures of the Cameron Highlands and the colonial charm and street art of Penang, there is something for everyone.
The country is split between the Malay Peninsula and the Borneo island, which it shares with Indonesia. We visited the Peninsula as part of our 2 weeks South-East Asia trip, but we definitely want to explore the Borneo region next time.
